What is glass sea wave sculptures?

Here at Stuart Wiltshire Glass, we have a real passion for the art of glass-blowing. We are also based along the south coast of England, in the seaside town of Weymouth.

This has built us very strong ties with the local community and the love for the sea and the marine life in and around the south coast of the United Kingdom.

We have chosen to take that a step further, and incorporate our beautiful surroundings and heritage into our glass art, by re-producing the sea, within our glass art.

We have a variety of sea glass wave sculptures, made from premium Barium Glass. These wave sculptures are stunning pieces of art hand-blown and designed by Stuart Wiltshire.

These beautiful products represent the beauty of our local surroundings here at Weymouth Beach, and pull together an amazing visual representation of the English Channel.

Watch us hand sculpt our Sea Glass Waves

Glass Wave Sculpture

Creating our glass wave sculptures is one of the most visually appealing processes here at Stuart Wiltshire Glass.

You can see early on in the glassblowing process when the wave begins to form within the molten glass. Hand sculpting the glass into the wave sculpture, produces the beautiful curve which is seen on all of our wave sculptures.

This process of creating this stunning glass art, can run hot even when creating the wave, with temperatures of the molten glass running as high as 1300°C. Using just a newspaper and some water, we create beautiful waves with a very light touch.

The timing needs to all come together perfectly to allow the glass to curve and form the barrel of the wave.

Surfing the Wave

It's not just Kelly Slater and the Kite Surfers in at Portland Sailing Academy who surf our waves.

We have very special Sharks who take a trip down to Weymouth just to get in on the action.

Our hand blown glass sharks are beautifully fused ontop of our glass waves creating one of our most striking, (and dangerous) products.

This stunning piece of glass art is sure to draw the atention of everyone who walks into your home.

(Especially if you play the Jaws music in the background.)

Glassy Waves

In surfing, a glassy wave is a wave that is extremely smooth and undisturbed by wind. In our workshop a we produce wavy glass, in the form of our sea sculptures.

Our blown glass waves create the crest of the wave and form the barrel, which is akin to those seen in Nazare. But just not as big.

These stunning stunning sea sculptures are perfect for those sea lovers, who want to take a part of the ocean home with them and to have on display.

Sea Sculpture

Crafted with meticulous care in our seaside town, our sea sculptures capture the essence of the ocean’s timeless beauty.

Each hand-blown wave is a testament to the artistry and dedication poured into creating these one-of-a-kind pieces. From the fluid curves of wave glass sculptures to the kinetic energy evoked in large glass wave sculptures, these works of art embody the rhythm of the sea.

Perfect for collectors and enthusiasts alike, our sea wave sculptures are available for sale, offering a chance to bring the serene beauty of ocean wave sculptures into your home. Proudly made in the UK, our designs honor the enduring connection between the sea and artistry.

Our sea glass wave art is a staple of our glass sculpture range here at Stuart Wiltshire Glass, with a variety of customers having seen first hand the intricacies involved in shaping this product in our Weymouth Studio.

How to make a fused glass wave and shark?

Creating a fused glass wave sculpture involves combining artistry and precision to craft a captivating design.

Our wave sculpture glass pieces are brought to life through a meticulous process.

To add intricate details, such as a shark sculpture atop the wave, we use a technique called cold fusing. This involves carefully aligning the elements of the sculpture, such as the glass wave ornament, and securing them using ultra-violet curing glue.

The adhesive is applied precisely, ensuring a seamless and durable connection. Once positioned, the sculpture is exposed to UV light, creating a bond that enhances the design's strength and beauty.

Each hand-blown wave, whether for sale or as part of a bespoke collection, is crafted to reflect the fluidity of the sea and the creativity of wave sculpture artists.

Waves Sculpture

Our wave glass is one of the most visually appealing pieces here at Stuart Wiltshire Glass, creating a beautiful ocean sculpture.

The power of the ocean is encapsulated within the glass wave art, producing a stunning abstract wave sculpture, which was developed over years of fine tuning the glassblowing experience.

The sculpture, really allows for a beautiful sea wave picture within the glass, which is sculpted with the glass running at 1300°C, and timing the cooling of the glass to create the barrel of the wave.

The wave is sculpted using royal and baby blue chips, which are these then encased in clear glass, and sculpted into the kinetic wave sculpture. Using the blue coloured chips during the first gather, allows for a stunning blue glass sculpture.

Glass Wave Sculpture UK

The creation process of our wave kinetic sculpture was developed through several iterations, which culminated in our glass wave for sale.

Like many of the ideas for our designs, the sea wave sculpture ideas came from playing with the glass and exploring the styles and designs possible within our skillsets.

This exploration of the art form is a core component of keeping the flare within the art alive.

Many of our greatest product designs were founded in this exploration style, taking inspiration of the environment of our studio.

Weymouth and the Dorset Jurassic coastline is a core inspiration for many of our designs, ultimately resulting in the creation of our sculptures by the sea.
